The Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) on Wednesday, November 9, launched free WiFi at Nairobi’s City Market to facilitate e-commerce.
ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo noted that the free public WiFi will be strong enough to handle transactions within the market and a circumference of a few metres around it.
The hotspot is anticipated to facilitate business transactions in the area.
The launch was in line with President William Ruto’s promise and effort to transform Kenya into a globally competitive digital economy.
“It is our vision to create a reliable and secure high speed digital infrastructure for the public, as the avenue envisaged for Kenya’s digital transformation,” Owalo said.
